Director Satoru Nihei walks through a gameplay overview for Onimusha: Way of the Sword in a new trailer showing off the upcoming franchise entry. Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on September 25 for PC and consoles, taking players back to the early Edo-period Kyoto, which has been overrun by monsters from the underworld known as Genma. Capcom notes that the footage used in the trailer reflects ongoing development phases of the game and that some scenes depicting death and dismemberment have been removed, but regardless, the video is still age-restricted.

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an all-new entry in the Onimusha series, plunges the Oni Gauntlet wielding protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi into an early Edo-period Kyoto under siege by monstrous fiends known as Genma.”

– Capcom

A magical story will see players facing many battles to overcome scary monsters. Capcom has designed Onimusha: Way of the Sword to be a somewhat dark-fantasy RPG where its main character, Miyamoto Musashi, uses his magical Oni Gauntlet and other skills to defeat the Genma.

“Feel the ring of steel on steel as blades clash in tense back-and-forth duels. Cut down foes with authentic and satisfying swordplay. Awaken Oni Powers to pull off superhuman feats.”

Capcom has made a demo available for all platforms, which include PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those who purchase the game will be able to continue progress from the demo, but should be aware that there could be changes made to the final release version. Similarly, for PC users, performance could change with the final release version, but that is quite normal, and honestly, patches are sure to follow after release, which would likely further improve the game.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
