Three big titles needed day-one driver attention this week, and NVIDIA delivered with the 610.88 WHQL Game Ready driver released on July 28. It is the full production follow-up to last week’s 610.82 beta, which was a targeted emergency fix for a crash affecting RTX 50-series cards specifically in Halo: Campaign Evolved.
The headline additions for 610.88 are DLSS and RTX support for Halo: Campaign Evolved, which launched July 28 as a ground-up UE5 remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. The driver also prepares for the Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer open beta beginning August 6, adding DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex support for the beta period. The full E-Day release on October 6 will have access to the complete DLSS 4.5 suite with Multi Frame Generation. A third title, Mistfall Hunter, also lands with RTX support this week.
On the bug-fix side, the 610.88 release notes confirm the following resolved issues: RTX 50-series critical crashes in Halo: Campaign Evolved are gone, which was the primary reason for the 610.82 beta last week; Path of Exile 2 periodic long pauses during extended DX12 sessions have been addressed; Silent Hill F now exits without crashing; and Strange Brigade crashes on exit are patched. There is also a general stability improvement for Silent Hill F alongside the crash fix.
The driver is 934.3 MB and covers Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit. For anyone who has been sitting on 610.74 or earlier, this is a straightforward update, particularly if you plan to touch Halo, PoE 2 in DX12 mode, or the Gears E-Day beta.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a native DLSS 4 implementation including Multi Frame Generation on RTX 40 and 50 cards, and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, currently in its pre-launch window for August deployment, is on track to land shortly after. Gears of War: E-Day in October will be a full DLSS 4.5 title at launch. For RTX card owners, there is a reasonable amount of upcoming content to support the hardware investment, which is a welcome note during a year where the GPU market has otherwise been rough going.
