An interview from Japan’s CGWORLD magazine (via Game’s Talk) has revealed that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne director Daisuke Ichihara has left Capcom for a company called ILCA (I Love Computer Art), which specializes in high-end 3DCG production. ILCA has been involved with some pretty big titles, such as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Dragon Quest XI, NieR: Automata, and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.

A statement provided by Ichihara suggests that he left Capcom on good terms, in that he saw ILCA as an opportunity to shape a new team (“Kyoto Studio”) with his 17 years of experience in the gaming industry.

“It’s a one-time life,” Ichihara said. “I want to create an organization that can realize the proposals of employees who have something to do. I myself am a mid-career employee, but I am growing this young organization with my own hands. I strongly want to come. “

The reputation of the Monster Hunter franchise took a hit recently due to Paul Anderson and Milla Jovovich’s live-action movie, which featured a controversial joke that upset a lot of fans in China. It has since been cut from all versions of the film.
