It wasn’t that long ago that 5.0 GHz was considered the upper limits of a 4C/8T processor, but those days are gone. An overclocker has taken the new Ryzen 3 5300G APU to 5.6 GHz on all cores with an ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Gaming motherboard, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 4,600MHz, and exotic cooling. This is quite the achievement, as the processor has a base/boost clock of 4.0 GHz/4.2 GHz. With a TDP of only 65 watts and rumored price of $159, this APU looks promising for those on a budget. This is not the first Ryzen 3 5000 Series to break the 5.0 GHz barrier, however. Such clock speeds can be safely achieved (albeit perhaps not as high as this) with CTR Clock Tuner.

We don’t know what type of cooling the overclocker used to push his 5300G to 5.6GHz. But it is definitely in the realm of exotic cooling, as hitting those higher frequencies is impossible with ambient cooling. We’d guess the overclocker was using liquid nitrogen.
