An increasing number of Battlefield 2042 fans who were lucky to get into the multiplayer shooter’s ongoing technical playtest have decided to share screenshots and videos of their experiences in the game despite being under a strict NDA.
Naturally, EA and DICE aren’t too happy about this and have dropped a few warnings that go so far as to suggest that playtesters who violate their agreements won’t be able to enjoy the final version of the game.
While it isn’t clear how the company would accomplish this beyond the usual means, EA Studios’ lead community manager Adam “PartWelsh” Freeman has left a couple of Twitter posts reminding Battlefield 2042 playtesters that if they continue to break the rules, they will lose access to the technical playtest, future EA tests, and, potentially, “access to 2042 itself when it releases.”
Apparently, there is a lot more Battlefield 2042 content being leaked than the initial clip that was shared online, as Freeman noted that EA has already removed “plenty” of people who violated its NDA in just the past 48 hours. They have been banned from enjoying the playtest over the weekend.
The drama is amusing in that it’s largely opposite to how some other developers are managing the playtests of their upcoming shooters. Microsoft and 343 Industries, for one, allowed Halo fans to stream and share anything they wanted in the technical preview for Halo Infinite. Both of these heavily anticipated titles will be out this fall.
An Update on how things are going with the Closed Tech Test ahead of the weekend. Details on the thread below so check it out and feel free to ask questions I'll answer what I can #BATTLEFIELD
