NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Will Reportedly Be the First to Feature Micron’s 21 Gbps GDDR6X Memory

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will be the first graphics card to leverage Micron’s faster 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory. That’s according to a tweet from Taiwanese outlet Uniko’s Hardware, which includes the alleged model number of the chips that the next Ampere flagship will supposedly utilize: MT61K512M32KPA-21U. The memory in the standard GeForce RTX 3090 runs at 19.5 Gbps.

Micron’s GDDR6X memory is also notable for its increased density. It features up to 2 GB per module (as opposed to 1 GB), which will allow NVIDIA to reduce the required amount of memory modules by half. This should improve energy efficiency.

NVIDIA is expected to launch the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti in January, shortly after the GeForce RTX 3080 (12 GB) and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (16 GB). Rumors suggest that the card could feature a TDP of 450 watts, a 100-watt increase over the standard model.
