Samsung was supposed to debut its new Exynos 2200 SoC for upcoming smartphones such as the Galaxy 22 yesterday, but that never happened.
According to a new report shared by BusinessKorea, the company is now planning to unveil the Exynos 2200 either at the end of January or early February. The SoC has been drawing quite a bit of interest from AMD fans, as it’s the first Exynos release to leverage red team’s Radeon IP and RDNA 2 graphics architecture.
“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone,” a Samsung Electronics official confirmed in a statement. “There are no problems with the AP’s production and performance.”
“Samsung Electronics had previously used Arm’s Mali GPU for Exynos chips,” BusinessKorea noted in its report. “However, many tech experts pointed out that the Mali, which is designed to operate on low power, is inferior to its rival Qualcomm’s Adreno.”
Samsung’s current mobile flagship SoC, the Exynos 2100, is manufactured on a 5-nanometer EUV process and features an Arm Mali-G78 GPU. Its successor is reportedly being built on 4 nm.
