FromSoftware’s next potential blockbuster may arrive earlier than expected. Speaking in a recent interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer.net, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared some new details regarding his acclaimed studio, one being the fact that FromSoftware’s latest project is already “in the final stages.” Miyazaki didn’t provide any indication as to what this title might be, but it is definitely just one of multiple projects, as the studio shared a tweet this morning that can confirm it has begun hiring for “several” new games. Armored Core 6 has been speculated to be one of FromSoftware’s upcoming titles, as indications of a sixth mainline installment of the mech franchise being in development surfaced in January this year in the form of leaked details and screenshots that reportedly originated from a consumer survey. The last Armored Core game that was released was Armored Core: Verdict Day, an Armored Core V expansion that released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. A sequel to Elden Ring also seems inevitable based on the sales and accolades that the fantasy RPG has earned since its release in February.

When we interviewed you about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 2018, you said there were 3.5 development lines underway, two of them unannounced. Elden Ring ended up one of the unannounced titles, but is the other one still in development?
Hidetaka Miyazaki: “Yes, development is currently in the final stages.”
What are your goals as a director? With Elden Ring wrapped up, is there anything that you want to do in the future or are interested in doing?
Miyazaki: “I’m already working on my next title as a director, so I’d like to avoid giving too much away there… In the mid-to-long term, I would like to work on a more abstract fantasy than anything we’ve done in the past.”
Finally, with Elden Ring settled, what is the state of FromSoftware’s game development going forward?
Miyazaki: “First off, we’re going to continue releasing updates for Elden Ring. Also, as I’ve mentioned before, we’re developing several titles by directors other than myself in addition to the title that I’m directing, but we’re not at the stage where I can share any details yet. My apologies, but please give us a little more time.”
