Deadline has learned that actress Annie Wersching passed away yesterday at the age of 45 following a battle with cancer. Best known for her roles in popular television shows that include 24, where she starred opposite Kiefer Sutherland as FBI special agent Renee Walker for two seasons, Wersching is also fondly remembered by gamers as being the voice behind Tess, one of The Last of Us’ major supporting characters. Naughty Dog has encouraged fans to support her family by donating to her GoFundMe page, which was started with Wersching’s blessing, according to the organizer.
Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, issued the following statement: “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall.”
“As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ “
Jon Cassar, director and executive producer of 24, also paid tribute with the following: “My heart is broken in more pieces than I can count. Annie came into my world with an open heart and a contagious smile. Brandishing such talent, she took my breath away. Annie became more than a workmate, she became a real friend to me, my family and every cast and crew member that worked with her. She’ll be truly missed by them and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie you’ll be missed, you left your mark, and we’re all the better for it.”

Actress Annie Wersching, best known for her roles in the television shows 24, Bosch and Timeless, died of cancer early this morning, her publicist confirmed to Deadline. She was 45.
Wersching continued to shoot even after her 2020 diagnosis, with prominent roles in Star Trek: Picard as the Borg queen in Season 2, and The Rookie. She also voiced Tess in the popular The Last Of Us video game, which was adapted into a TV series by HBO.
One of her final roles was in Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard exactly two decades after she made her screen acting debut in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.

But then you realize you didn't really knew them, only the characters they portrayed. I liked her in 24, but don't remember seeing her in anything else. I wasn't aware she was in The Last of Us.
PS.: I find it a bit morbid that she's barely cold and they are already using her death to beg for money.
Supposedly its for funeral arrangements, but I find it hard to believe that someone with cancer wouldn't have it covered.
I find it even harder to believe that someone who was successful in hollywood can't cover it and needs money from paycheck to paycheck folk. It just rubs me the wrong way.
I would have assumed medical bills first since those can get realy out of hand quickly in the US.
And respectfully, but from her IMDB page she did not seem that succesfull as most of her roles were smaller gigs, but then again I don't know what these actors make.
Much more than the average person that's for sure. Being among the first billed in a successful TV show means at least $100k / episode at the bare minimum.
It just go's to show you that unless you are truly wealthy you are susceptible to having your family go bankrupt for medical bills in the US.
And still most americans are against universal health care. It's the "oh it will never happen to me" and "taxes are theft" mentality.
It's the bullshit mentality of we don't need universal health care... then it happens to them and... "Contribute to our gofundme please!"
