RPG fans have been confident that the Final Fantasy VII remake would be released on platforms in addition to the PlayStation 4 because it wouldn’t make a lot of business sense for Square Enix to keep the game to one console. The latest trailer even dropped a line alluding to PS4 exclusivity, and just this week, Xbox Germany posted a video announcing the remake for release on Xbox One in 2020.

A Square Enix employee has killed the dreams of Final Fantasy fans who would prefer to play on Xbox or PC, however, by claiming there were “no plans for other platforms.” While this doesn’t mean the FFVII Remake won’t show up on other systems in the future, it seems the RPG will remain in Sony’s stable for a substantial amount of time.

Asked if there are plans to bring Final Fantasy VII Remake to Xbox One, or if the game is still a PS4 exclusive, a Square Enix spokesperson told VGC: “As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms.”
