SilverStone ST1000-PTS
SilverStoneTek is a company best known for its high quality cases but their product lines extend into other components such as cooling, power supplies (of various model lines that range from 300W to 1350W in DC output), fans, and storage solutions. Silverstone has built up this impressive product repertoire since its founding in 2003. For this review, we are looking at the Strider Platinum 1000W model SST-ST1000-PTS in the Strider series which is produced in conjunction with Enhance.
Enhance Electronics Co. Ltd. was founded more than 30 years ago in 1986. While a major power supply OEM Enhance is not nearly as well known to most users as some other OEMs as its core business focus has been outside of the desktop market in areas such as servers, embedded, and telecom markets. However, its products have started to surface in the US consumer realm in the last year or so under the likes of SilverStone, Silverpower, Antec, Cooler Master, and GIGABYTE, as well as the occasional Enhance branded model.
A Platinum SilverStone
The ST1000-PTS is the second power supply we have seen from SilverStone and it just about could not be more different than the first when it comes to design idea and scope. The first unit we saw was the outstanding Nightjar 600W fanless power supply. This is considerably different than today’s 1000W fan cooled unit we have before us. However, SilverStone has long produced 1000W and larger units so this is not out of their wheelhouse. Actually, given the overall small size for an ATX12v power supply that this unit comes in at today puts it RIGHT IN SilverStone’s wheelhouse of interesting features or twists/tweaks to formfactors that other companies just don’t do. So, we are definitely looking forward to what this high powered, but slimmed down, unit can do today.
