VideoCardz has published the final specifications and pricing list for Intel’s 10th Gen Core (Comet Lake-S) processors ahead of the company’s formal announcement on April 30. The top SKU, the Core i9-10900K, comes at an MSRP of $488. This is a 10C/20T CPU with a base clock of 3.7 GHz and maximum boost clock of 5.3 GHz thanks to Thermal Velocity Boost technology. Its TDP is 125 W.
A leaked slide, “Why Frequency Matters,” suggests that one of Intel’s major marketing points will be the continued importance of high clock speeds. Here’s how the company explains it:
- New 10th Gen Intel Core S-Series Processors with up to 5.3 GHz
- Games and most applications continue to depend on high frequency cores
- Around 60% of games are optimized for single core
- Better performance required to drive high framerates, a foundation element of achieving lower latency – this is where frequency matters
