It’s been close to a decade since Fable III was released, but Lionhead’s legendary RPG series has finally returned. At the end of today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft confirmed that a new, mainline Fable title was in the works for the Xbox Series X and Windows 10. We have no idea what the game is going to look or play like based on its announcement trailer, which happens to be entirely CG, but the spirit and soul of the franchise appears to be alive and well.
“Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise,” a synopsis reads. “Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.”
RIP, Lionhead Studios. For those of you who are unaware, Playground Games happens to be the developer behind Microsoft’s critically acclaimed Forza franchise. Wait a second – an action RPG made by a group of racing junkies? Now that’s interesting.
