Sucker Punch has announced that its latest hit, Ghost of Tsushima, is getting a new online cooperative multiplayer mode later this year. It’s called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and what’s really cool is that it’ll be a completely free download. Legends will allow players to team up in groups of two to four to take on extremely challenging enemies as a Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin.

Legends is an entirely new experience — it’s a separate mode that doesn’t follow Jin or the companions from his journey, but instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima,” wrote Darren Bridges, Senior Game Designer for Sucker Punch. “Ghost of Tsushima’s single-player campaign focuses on an open world and exploring the natural beauty of the island, but Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action.”

Legends will launch with Story and Survival missions, but a four-player Raid mode will be available shortly after. In this mode, you and your friends will be sent to an “entirely new realm to challenge a brutal, terrifying enemy.”

Sucker Punch hasn’t shared an exact release date, but it promises to have more details as we get closer to launch.
