Now here’s a story about the kind of customer service a lot of us would appreciate. Every now and then, we may get lucky with an RMA and end up with an upgrade due to lack of stock or other reasons, but recently, someone got really fortunate with their card swap and ended up with an unreleased NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU.

Reddit user Wet-Goat (via VideoCardz) posted about their unexpected upgrade yesterday from a UK retailer. Despite requesting an ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090, he received an MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM instead. Images reveal a metal RGB backplate, three 8-pin adapters, and a thick cooler, all of which point to a powerful and well-designed card.

Numerous images and benchmarks (e.g., Time Spy, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Gears 5) have been shared ahead of the card’s official release. It should have little difficulty playing games at max settings at 4K.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
