Conclusion

The $40 Fractal Design Focus G (FD-CA-FOCUS-WT-W) is a decent budget case. The build quality was fantastic, especially for the price, so we can easily applaud Fractal for their efforts.

The Good

  • Cheap price for a mid-tower case.
  • Plenty of room on the inside to hold motherboard from the small ITX up to a full sized ATX board.
  • Plenty of room for long GPUs since there is not anything in the front to block the card from hanging over the motherboard itself.
  • Also, cheap price.

The Bad

  • Case has little to no cable management features that you’d expect to find on nearly all modern cases. If you are going for a clean no cable look then you’ll need to get creative with hiding them.
  • Only two 3.5″ hard drive mounting locations
  • The one dedicated 2.5″ SSD mount needs a straight SATA power cable (No L-shaped ones) due to how close the SSD is mounted to the motherboard tray.
  • Cooling and noise level are a bit on the high side.

Final Points

This would be a good case for someone young with a tight budget. If you need to save $20 – $30 getting a cheaper case to make room in the budget for a better GPU, CPU or larger SSD then this is the type of case for you. With multiple color options to choose from you could have a decently powerful gaming setup with good hardware while going cheap on the case. There is no RGB on the case itself, but the wide open side panel window will allow RGB on the computer components to be seen easily.

If your the person who holds onto cases for multiple builds before buying a new case then I would spend more money on a better case than this one. However, if you need a few extra dollars to maximize the performance of your rig by cutting down on the case cost, then this case is for you.
