Ray Tracing DLSS EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Performance
Now we will include Ray Tracing and DLSS into the mix to see how those games perform with these features enabled. First we will show a 1440p graph with just Ray Tracing enabled. Then we will show a 4K graph with both Ray Tracing and DLSS enabled in the same game.
Watch Dogs Legion 1440p with Ray Tracing
Turning on Ray Tracing at 1440p in Watch Dogs Legion does cause a large performance burden. The advantages of the fastest EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING start to be known now with this demanding option. Compared to the RTX 3080 FE the EVGA card is 4% faster. The real advantage though is when you overclock the EVGA video card. Performance improves by 6% and the highest framerate that is nearer to 60, is achieved. This game is much smoother at 56FPS than 51FPS with Ray Tracing, so the overclocked EVGA video card offers the best playable gameplay experience.
Watch Dogs Legion 4K with Ray Tracing and DLSS
At 4K Ray Tracing alone is not playable, so we look toward turning on DLSS to make it playable. The only video card that is barely playable with Ray Tracing at 4K in this game, even with DLSS, is the overclocked EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING. Even at 51FPS, the experience isn’t all that great, minimum framerates are into the ’30s. We would actually recommend going and lowering the Ray Tracing quality here to make it perform up to 60FPS. At any rate, the EVGA video card is the fastest, and overclocked offers the best performance.
Control 1440p with Ray Tracing
Control at 1440p with Ray Tracing is also demanding, but the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING video card comes through with the best performance. Overclocking it has improved performance by 5% and is really smooth in this game at 4K with Ray Tracing.
Control 4K with Ray Tracing and DLSS
At 4K though, we definitely need DLSS to make Ray Tracing playable. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING allows over 70FPS with Ray Tracing and DLSS turned on at 4K. Performance is improved by 5% with overclocking the EVGA card, and compared to the RTX 3080 FE it is 8% faster.
Wolfenstein Youngblood 1440p with Ray Tracing
Wolfenstein Youngblood plays extremely well with Ray Tracing enabled at 4K. It’s playable even on the RTX 2080 Ti here. But we can see that overclocking the EVGA card still yields higher performance, gaining 5%.
Wolfenstein Youngblood 4K with Ray Tracing
For 4K in Wolfenstein Youngblood we only have Ray Tracing turned on here, we did not need to use DLSS to make the game faster. You can see that the EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING is 4% faster than the RTX 3080 FE and overclocking the EVGA card improves performance by 6%.
Metro Exodus 1440p with Ray Tracing
Enabling Ray Tracing in Metro Exodus is a big burden on performance even at 1440p. Once again the overclocked EVGA video card provides the best gameplay experience for us.
Metro Exodus 4K with Ray Tracing and DLSS
Unfortunately even at 4K turning on DLSS with Ray Tracing still doesn’t allow up to 60FPS. However, the overclocked EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING comes the closest and provides the best gameplay experience. Compared to the RTX 3080 FE with the overclock it is 8% faster.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1440p with Ray Tracing
Turning on Ultra Ray Tracing in this game at 1440p is a bit easier on performance. The EVGA video card allows over 70FPS, overclocking it improves performance by 6%.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider 4K with Ray Tracing and DLSS
Turning on DLSS at 4K with Ultra Ray Tracing is just the thing, it allows over 70FPS on the RTX 3080 video cards. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING improves performance by 6% when overclocking. It provides the best experience at 4K with everything on.
