Power and Temp
In the power and temperature graph below, power is reported from GPUz’s Board Power Draw sensor data while playing a game. It represents the highest Board Power Draw experienced and expressed in Watts. Temperature is also reported from GPUz GPU temperature sensor data showing the highest reported while playing a game expressed in Celsius. The ambient temperature while testing was 70F in an open test-bench.
The default Board Power Draw reported by GPUz on the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE was 205.6 Watts. When we overclock the video card it rises 9% in power to 224.2 Watts. Considering the improvements we received in overclocking framerates and percentages, this power increase tracks closely with the performance gained. It is therefore close to being an efficiency power increase and performance per Watt increase with the overclock.
In terms of temperature, the video card was well cooled. At default automatic fan speeds it reached 74c. With the overclock, and keeping the fans at 71% temperature was a low 64c. We did not feel the cooling was holding back the overclock in any way. The NVIDIA custom-designed cooling is more than sufficient for overclocking this video card, and the fans are not too loud at 71%.
