Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade that shows off the visual differences between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the popular reimagining of the 1997 RPG classic. As the split screen comparisons demonstrate, the remastered Intergrade edition for PS5 boasts significantly better visuals than its last-gen counterpart thanks to a new lighting system that better brings out the details of its improved textures. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade also features more realistic and denser fog effects to enhance the atmosphere of Midgar.

“In this extended video, take a look at the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting and background environments,” Square Enix’s description reads. “Switch between two game modes ‘Graphics Mode,’ which prioritizes 4K high-resolution graphics, and ‘Performance Mode,’ which prioritizes smooth action at 60 frames per second, and capture and share your favorite moments of this timeless adventure with a fully customizable ‘Photo Mode.’ Enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense wireless controller, with its haptic feedback integration.”

“In the brand-new episode featuring Yuffie, play as ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates the shadowy Shinra corporation to steal a powerful materia and restore glory to her homeland. Play alongside new characters and enjoy an expanded gameplay experience featuring multiple new combat and gameplay additions. This adventure brings new perspective to the FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE story that cannot be missed.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released for PlayStation 5 consoles on June 10, 2021. According to Square Enix’s initial announcement, PS4 users who already own a copy of the last-gen version of FFVII Remake can upgrade to FFVII Remake Intergrade for no additional cost. Physical copies can only be updated via a PS5 with disc drive, however.
