As part of its apology for attempting to increase the pricing for Xbox Live Gold memberships earlier this year, Microsoft has begun unlocking online multiplayer for an extensive list of free-to-play games. The list includes popular battle royale titles such as Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends and Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as other blockbusters such as Bungie’s Destiny 2. Microsoft may have blunted the necessity of Xbox Live Gold with this decision, but the paid subscription service still offers some great perks such as free games and exclusive discounts.

As part of listening to your feedback, this change will take place starting today, and all Xbox players will be able to access online multiplayer at no charge for a library of over 50 free-to-play games that support online multiplayer.
