Netflix has traditionally focused on filmed entertainment such as movies, but the world’s biggest streamer is attempting to make a bigger play for the lucrative video games industry. This is according to a report from The Information, whose sources revealed that Netflix has approached various veteran game industry executives about joining the company to help it realize its gaming ambitions. While it isn’t clear what Netflix’s exact strategy is, one idea that the streamer reportedly has is to offer a bundle of games like Apple’s mobile game subscription service, Apple Arcade.

This wouldn’t be Netflix’s first foray into video games. Last year, the company released a tactics game based on Dark Tactics. (It was bad.) In 2019, it released a game based on Stranger Things for consoles and PC. (It wasn’t great.) That followed a 2017 mobile game also based on Stranger Things. (It was fine.)
