Test Setup

Please read our GPU Test Bench and Benchmarking Refresher for an explanation on our test system, procedures and goals.  Note that since the writing of that article, we have since further upgraded our CPU to a Ryzen 7 5800X now.  More information on our GPU testing can be found here.  Check out our KIT page where you can see all the components in our test system configuration for reviewing video cards.

We have PCI-Express Resizable BAR (AMD Smart Access Memory) enabled in the motherboard BIOS. All video cards also have updated BIOS’s to support Resizable BAR, and it is enabled on all video cards.

Note that we are using a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC video card for comparison in this review. It is not a Founders Edition. It does have a factory overclock boost that is higher than the Founders Edition. It has a Boost Clock of 1755MHz set by GIGABYTE.  This is in comparison to the reference boost clock of 1695MHz on FE cards. All the other video cards uses are Founders Edition cards, and the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is a built-by AMD reference card.
