Double Fine Productions’ cult-classic platformer, Psychonauts, is finally getting a well-deserved sequel 16 years after its original release in the form of Psychonauts 2 next month. According to a recent tweet from the developer, gamers of all ages should be able to enjoy Psychonauts 2 with little frustration, as the game will launch with an invincibility toggle that allows players to coast through its levels without having to worry about death or damage. Double Fine clarified that the reason for implementing an invincibility option in Psychonauts 2 is so it could broaden the game’s accessibility and ensure that everyone could enjoy the game regardless of their needs. The invincibility toggle should also be a great option for Psychonauts 2 players who are merely interested in experiencing the game’s story without having to struggle through its gameplay challenges. Psychonauts 2 will be released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, macOS, and Linux on August 25, 2021.

“All people should be able to enjoy games. All ages, all possible needs. It’s an ongoing and important process for our industry and a challenge we need to meet. End of the day? We want you to have fun, to laugh, to experience a story that affects you. On whatever terms you want.”
