Disk Copy Benchmarks

AS SSD Copy Benchmark

We are using AS SSD’s Copy Benchmark tool to test the duration of file copy for ISO, Program, and Game data. The description of what it does is as such: “In the copy tests (menu-tools-copy benchmark) the following test folders are created: ISO (two large files), programs (typical program folder with many small files) and games (folder of a game with small and large files). These three folders are copied with a simple copy command of the operating system. The cache remains switched on for this test. The practical tests show the performance of the SSD with simultaneous read and write operations.” The benchmark outputs the duration in minutes and seconds, and lower is better.

CORSAIR Force Gen4 PCIe MP600 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD AS SSD Copy Benchmark ISO

The CORSAIR Force MP600 1TB SSD copies ISO in 0.48 seconds, while it takes the Sabrent Rocket 500GB SSD 0.54 seconds. That is an 11% faster copy time on the CORSAIR Force MP600 1TB SSD.

CORSAIR Force Gen4 PCIe MP600 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD AS SSD Copy Benchmark Program

The CORSAIR Force MP600 1TB SSD copies program in 1.1 seconds according to the benchmark while the Sabrent Rocket 500GB SSD is slightly slower at 1.17 seconds, they really are very close to each other.

CORSAIR Force Gen4 PCIe MP600 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD AS SSD Copy Benchmark Game

The CORSAIR Force MP600 1TB SSD copies game in 0.68 seconds while the Sabrent Rocket 500GB SSD is slower at 0.78 seconds. The CORSAIR MP600 is 13% faster.

DiskBench

With DiskBench we place a 50GB single file onto the test drive. We copy this file from the test drive to a new folder on the test drive, volume to volume. This tests the performance the drive is able to copy a file from itself to itself as if you were copying files on the same drive. Results are in duration Seconds, lower is better.

CORSAIR Force Gen4 PCIe MP600 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD DiskBench 50GB File Copy

In this test, the Sabrent Rocket 500GB SSD is technically slightly faster at file copy of a 50GB file, but the result is extremely close at 24.4 seconds versus 24.9 seconds. The difference is 2%, but in reality, we are talking half a second difference, you simply won’t notice the difference.
