Sabrent is giving PlayStation 5 owners an additional reason to opt for its speedy Rocket 4 PLUS SSDs for expanding the next-gen console’s relatively paltry amount of 667 GB internal storage.

As demonstrated in a new video, Sabrent has developed a heat sink specifically for the PS5. The new heat sink is a work of art compared to Sony’s standard metal cover, which it replaces.

Sabrent’s PS5 heat sink has been designed to complement its Rocket 4 PLUS PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs. These are available in 4 TB and 2 TB capacities, both of which feature read speeds of up to 7,100 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,600 MB/s. There’s also a 1 TB model with speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s (read) and 5,300 MB/s (write).

In its instructions on how to add an M.2 SSD to a PS5 console, Sony recommends PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSDs that have a minimum sequential read speed of 5,500 MB/s. The company also insists that they be paired with a heat sink to keep temperatures in check and ensure that the drives can maintain a higher level of performance.

Sabrent suggests that its PS5 heat sink will be available to purchase very soon.
