The Elder Scrolls VI has been all but confirmed to be exclusive to the Xbox and PC platforms. Bethesda Game Studios’ next major game, Starfield, will be Xbox and PC only, and Xbox head Phil Spencer told GQ Magazine in a recent interview that he sees the same for the sixth mainline installment of Elder Scrolls. He also suggests that all other future Bethesda titles will be available to play only on PC and Xbox.

“It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” Spencer explained. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”

The article also includes tidbits from Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda Game Studios. Howard didn’t provide any new details on The Elder Scrolls VI but teased that fans of the franchise should feel right at home with the game.

“I do this weird exercise that I like,” Howard revealed. “You go back and you read a review of the first Elder Scrolls. And then you read The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s, then you read The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s. You black out a couple things. And they read the same. ‘You’ve stepped out and oh my gosh, it feels so real.’ People change. Technology changes. But the ultimate goal is still to make it so that, when you boot the game up, you feel like you’ve been transported.”

Starfield will be available exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 11, 2022, but it’s unclear when The Elder Scrolls VI might be released. Bethesda hasn’t released anything substantial regarding the game since the announcement trailer from 2018.
