Microsoft today officially launched its Xbox Cloud Gaming service for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Available with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, the cloud gaming option is useful in that it allows players to try a game immediately rather than having to wait for it to download and install. Another perk is that Xbox One owners can now experience more demanding, next-gen titles on older hardware.

From Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President and Head of Product, Xbox Cloud Gaming:

We know from you that you want to find and try Xbox Game Pass games before you install them — and today we’re enabling just that. Now you can discover and try lots of different titles quickly right from the cloud until you land on the one you may want to also install — which is still the flagship experience for Xbox consoles. For Xbox One users, cloud gaming also allows you to play some next gen games on the Xbox One console you already own. This means select games that are currently only playable on Xbox Series X|S, like Recompile, The Medium, and The Riftbreaker, are now playable on your Xbox One with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and cloud gaming.

Xbox Cloud Gaming for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One Consoles is available now in 25 regions. The service is exclusive to the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass, which costs $14.99 per month.
