The latest freebie that the Epic Games Store is gifting as part of its 15 Days of Free Games promotion is Loop Hero, an indie title developed by Russian studio Four Quarters.

Published by Devolver Digital, Loop Hero is a deck-building game with a classic pixel-art style in which players can manipulate the randomly generated world around them through the use of cards. The title will be available for free on the Epic Games Store until tomorrow (12/21/21) at 11:00 a.m. (EST).

“The Lich has thrown the world into a timeless loop and plunged its inhabitants into never ending chaos,” reads a description for the game.

“Wield an expanding deck of mystical cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain along each unique expedition loop for the brave hero. Recover and equip powerful loot for each class of hero for their battles and expand the survivors’ camp to reinforce each adventure through the loop. Unlock new classes, new cards, and devious guardians on your quest to shatter the endless cycle of despair.”

Loop Hero was one of the five nominees for The Game Awards 2021’s Best Independent Game category, but it lost out to Kena: Bridge of Spirits, a PlayStation and Epic Games Store exclusive. Developer Four Quarters has also been responsible for Please, Don’t Touch Anything, a game about “bathroom breaks, screwdrivers and nuclear explosions.”

So far nothing has popped up I’d be interested in.

Free is free. I’ll grab all the games for free, even if I’m currently not interested in them and even if I don’t think I’ll ever be interested in them. I grab them anyway. I wish I would have known when shenmue 3 was free. Would have really liked to get that one.

I think that’s probably the third or forth time I’ve managed to catch that one for free, so I wouldn’t give up hope. Loop Hero is definitely the first title I’d give any kind of a damn about – it is a decent low key casual game.

I don’t do that. I can’t stand to have games on my account that I have no interest in and have or never will play. I have to sort through enough BS as it is.

  4. Second Extinction is out for free today… neat concept… dinosaurs came back ran humanity off the planet now you’re part of a team coming back to reclaim the world.

Yeah, I’ll be glad when EGS offers “Collections” like Steam does so I can toss all the stuff I probably wont ever play into the “Junk” collection.

Or hasn’t been free already at one time or another

  7. Missed this one, also missed Shenmue 3 bc their servers were crying and it wouldn’t let me complete the transaction. Not that I’d likely play either of them anyway

Looks like online only so it’s a pass for me.

  9. Today is Mutant Year Zero…. which must be a repeat freebie bc it’s already in my library. Never played it. Sort of looks like xcom.
