Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Matt Reeves’ take on one of the most iconic comic book characters of all time, the Batman.

Starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, the trailer teases the relationship between these characters in a new vision of Gotham that’s host to classic villains such as the Penguin and Riddler, who are played by Colin Farrell and Paul Dano, respectively. Farrell’s role is notable in that the actor is practically unrecognizable under his makeup.

“From Warner Bros. Pictures comes Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman,’ starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne,” reads the trailer’s description.

“Reeves (‘The Planet of the Apes’ franchise) directed from a screenplay by Reeves & Peter Craig, based on characters from DC. Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. Dylan Clark (the ‘Planet of the Apes’ films) and Reeves produced the film, with Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Simon Emanuel serving as executive producers.”

The Batman will be available to watch exclusively in theaters when it launches on March 4, 2022. This is contrary to Warner Bros.’ 2021 film slate, which included same-day premieres on HBO Max.
