Gameplay Performance Continued
Watch Dogs Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion we use the graphics preset settings and enable DLSS where supported. We do have the HD Textures Installed. We use the built-in benchmark for testing.
In this first comparison, we are running at 1080p with “Ultra” quality preset applied. The GeForce RTX 3050 isn’t playable at 48FPS, but turn on DLSS and it does become playable at 58FPS. At 48FPS it is still 109% faster than the Radeon RX 6500 XT which bottlenecks at “Ultra” settings in this game at 23FPS. The GeForce GTX 1650 is also bottlenecked. Overclocking the RTX 3050 improves performance by 4%.
Lowering the game quality down to “Very High” makes the GeForce RTX 3050 very playable at 68FPS without DLSS. DLSS further improves performance by 25% bringing it up to 85FPS. This is much faster than the Radeon RX 6500 XT, by 84%. The Radeon RX 6500 XT and GTX 1650 are still both very bottlenecked even at this lower quality setting, so let’s lower the game settings even more.
In this graph, we have lowered the quality settings down to “High” settings. Finally, the Radeon RX 6500 XT is playable at 64FPS. The GeForce RTX 3050 is also still playable and is 27% faster. DLSS improves performance by 21% bringing performance up close to 100FPS. Overclocking also helps more at this lower setting, by 6%. The RTX 3050 is 62% faster than the GTX 1650.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Game of The Year Edition
For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 we have the latest update which updates the game to the Game of The Year Edition. We are using the new DX12 API in the game. We enable the “Ultra” graphics preset and select resolution as needed. We have live online terrain enabled; however, we do disable traffic. We perform a manual flight landing activity at the Sydney airport. We put the camera on the external view of the aircraft.
In this first graph, we are trying to run the game at the “Ultra” graphics preset, which is the highest game settings preset. The Radeon RX 6500 XT and GTX 1650 bottleneck pretty hard here, but the GeForce RTX 3050 does not. It’s playable at 41FPS, remember this game is more playable at lower framerates. At 41FPS the RTX 3050 is 79% faster than the Radeon RX 6500 XT and 93% faster than the GeForce GTX 1650. Overclocking has helped improve performance by 8%.
To attempt to get better framerates we lowered the game setting down to the “High-End” graphics preset to see what would result. The GeForce RTX 3050 is still very playable now at 54FPS and is 28% faster than the Radeon RX 6500 XT and 76% faster than the GeForce GTX 1650. Overclocking improves performance by 12% taking us up to 60FPS in this game which is super smooth.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn we enable the “Ultimate Quality” graphics option. This game now supports DLSS and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution FSR, so we will utilize both. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing.
In this first graph we are looking at 1080p “Ultimate Quality” performance and we have enabled DLSS. The GeForce RTX 3050 is very playable at 74FPS and is 23% faster than the Radeon RX 6500 XT and 80% faster than the GeForce RTX 1650. Turning on DLSS improves performance by 27%. Overclocking improves performance by 7%.
In this graph we have the same quality setting being tested, but now we are utilizing FSR on each video card. FSR helps performance on each card, but a little less so than DLSS, just 24% here.
