Rendering Performance

We will now take a look at how rendering performance compares.

Cinebench R23

Intel Core i9-12900K Cinebench R23 CPU Multi-Core Graph

In the popular Cinebench R23 benchmark we find the Intel Core i9-12900K smashes the Ryzen 9 5900X by 29%. This is significant, for this multi-threaded application, both CPUs have the same thread count, but the 12900K whoops the 5900X here.

Intel Core i9-12900K Cinebench R23 CPU Single-Core Graph

The Intel Core i9-12900K also beats the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X in single-core performance by 23%, again very significant.

Blender Open Data Benchmark

Intel Core i9-12900K Blender Open Data Benchmark Classroom Graph

Blender shows us a real-world advantage of the Intel Core i9-12900K, it renders the classroom scene in less time than the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. It reduces the time to render by 10% which can be significant for long renders.

V-Ray 5 Benchmark

Intel Core i9-12900K V-Ray 5 Benchmark Graph

Rendering in V-Ray is also much faster on the Intel Core i9-12900K, 14% faster than the Ryzen 9 5900X.

HandBrake

Intel Core i9-12900K HandBrake Video Transcoding Performance Graph

The Intel Core i9-12900K responded very well to transcoding video in HandBrake. The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X took 8.28 minutes, while the Intel Core i9-12900K took only 6.1 minutes, that’s a reduction of 2 minutes and 18 seconds off the time, or a 26% performance improvement. That’s very significant for long videos to transcode. This CPU should work well for video content creators.
