Super Bowl 2022 Movie Trailer Roundup: Doctor Strange 2, Lord of the Rings, and More

The Super Bowl is typically an ideal time to catch trailers for some of the biggest upcoming shows and movies, and today’s event was no different.

Viewers who tuned into the sporting event were treated to trailers for some of this year’s most highly anticipated productions, including first looks at Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The commercial lineup also included TV spots for Michael Bay’s Ambulance, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and more.

Marvel Studios’ trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has already managed to rack up over 8 million views at the time of this posting. The film, which is directed by a little-known director named Sam Raimi, will be released exclusively in theaters on May 6.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
