PlayStation has announced the The Last of Us remake, confirming the existence of Naughty Dog’s long-rumored project with an official synopsis, gorgeous trailer, release date, and other exciting details. Dubbed The Last of Us Part I, the game will be released for PlayStation 5 later this year on September 2 and be available in a Standard Edition ($69.99), Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99), and Firefly Edition ($99.99) that includes a steelbook display case, copies of The Last of Us: American Dreams comics (issues 1 to 4), and various early in-game unlocks. A PC version of The Last of Us Part I is also in development, as noted at the end of the trailer, presumably to be released at a later date following the console version.

Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards and now rebuilt for PlayStation 5.

Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.

The Last of Us Part I includes the complete The Last of Us single-player story (PS5) and celebrated prequel chapter, Left Behind.
