Henry Cavill is not the only Netflix star who has had an obsession with Blizzard games. Actor David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in The Duffer Brothers’ hugely popular sci-fi horror drama series Stranger Things, sat down for an interview alongside Winona Ryder for Netflix’s Geeked Week event this week and revealed that he was actually a huge World of Warcraft addict. Calling it “the most embarrassing thing in my existence,” Harbour said that he played “the shit” out of the MMORPG, so much so that it ruined his life “for like a year.” Harbour played as a Night Elf warrior called Norad, and he was respectable enough to serve as the second tank of his whole guild. It wasn’t until he got hooked on another popular title that he realized he had to distance himself from gaming, however.

“It’s so funny, because I also played The Sims,” Harbour said. “You ever play The Sims? You could be an actor on The Sims. You can progress in your career, but what you have to do is, like, work on things. You have to work on your speech and on your body, right?”

“I remember my avatar got to a certain level in his career, and I kept trying to get him to work on his speech. He was like a supporting player, but I wanted him to work on his speech and his body, and all he wanted to do was sit around and play videogames. And then I was like, whoa who whoa whoa, I had this vortex moment where I saw my life before my eyes.”

The cast and creators of Stranger Things – Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Joseph Quinn, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, creators the Duffer Brothers and executive producer Shawn Levy – sit down with host Felicia Day for a full-spoilers official after show for Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1. Get ready to head into the Upside Down.
