SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING OC Video Card on Black Background


In May of 2022, AMD refreshed its Radeon RX 6000 line with new RX xx50 series GPUs.  AMD launched the Radeon RX 6650 XT, Radeon RX 6750 XT and Radeon RX 6950 XT.  The Radeon RX 6650 XT was launched with an MSRP of $399, the Radeon RX 6750 XT was launched at an MSRP of $549, and the Radeon RX 6950 XT was launched at an MSRP of $1,099.  We reviewed the Radeon RX 6650 XT based video card at launch with a custom retail card.  Now it is time to review the next card up from that, the Radeon RX 6750 XT.

In today’s review, we will take a look at the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT GAMING OC 12GB GDDR6 HDMI/TRIPLE DP video card, SKU# 11318-01-20G (SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, 12GB, AMD RDNA 2).  This is a custom video card from SAPPHIRE, and because it is based on SAPPHIRE’s NITRO+ product range, it has a custom factory overclock and a custom robust cooling system.  We’ll go over all of its specifications below, but before that, let’s go over what the Radeon RX 6750 XT brings to the table over the Radeon RX 6700 XT.

AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT

The AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT is based on NAVI 22, and the RDNA2 architecture at 7nm.  It has 2,560 Stream Processors, 40 Compute Units, 40 Ray Accelerators, 64 ROPs and 160 TMUs, and 96MB of Infinity Cache.  This is exactly the same configuration as the Radeon RX 6700 XT.  What sets the Radeon RX 6750 XT apart from the Radeon RX 6700 XT is simply a boosted GPU clock speed and faster memory. 

The Radeon RX 6750 XT runs at a Game Clock of 2495MHz and a Boost Clock of 2600MHz.  Whereas the Radeon RX 6700 XT runs at a Game Clock of 2424MHz and a Boost Clock of 2581MHz.  In addition, the 12GB of GDDR6 on the Radeon RX 6750 XT runs at 18GHz versus 16GHz on the Radeon RX 6700 XT.  This brings the memory bandwidth up to 432GB/s on the Radeon RX 6750 XT whereas it is 384GB/s on the Radeon RX 6700 XT. 

Due to these clock frequency increases, this brings the TDP up to 250W on the Radeon RX 6750 XT while it is 230W on the Radeon RX 6700 XT.  Otherwise, the two are very similar, the Radeon RX 6750 XT is simply a clock boosted 6700 XT on GPU and memory. 


The SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 6750 XT NITRO+ does have a cost premium, over the AMD MSRP, but this video card does pack a lot of features and design.  You can find this video card online at $679.99 at both Amazon and Newegg.  SAPPHIRE does have different models of the Radeon RX 6750 XT available; it has a PULSE model, which will be a little cheaper, but has a lower boost clock and less fancy cooling.  The other model that exists is the NITRO+ which is the one we are reviewing and sits above the PULSE model.  The NITRO+ model has the highest factory overclock from SAPPHIRE.

The SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT has a factory overclock Game Clock of 2554MHz and a GPU Boost Clock of 2623MHz.  This is, therefore, higher than the AMD reference spec of 2495MHz/2600MHz.  Because of the dynamic nature of the GPU clock, and the ability to clock beyond GPU Boost based on thermals and power, the SAPPHIRE video card will run above the factory GPU Boost while gaming.  We will see how high on the following pages.  It has 12GB of GDDR6 running at 18GHz.

The SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 6750 XT utilizes SAPPHIRE’s TRI-X Cooling Technology, which is a triple-fan configuration.  The two on the sides are slightly bigger than the middle one, and the fans run anticlockwise while the middle fan runs clockwise.  They use two-ball bearings.  They use Angular Velocity Fan Blades which provides a double layer of downward air pressure, along with the outer ring, resulting in up to 44% more downward air pressure and up to 19% more airflow.  The fans are also Quick Connector, so they can be easily replaced if damaged or taken out easily to clean. 

The heatsink uses a WAVE Fin Design to reduce friction when the air goes into the fin modules to cut noise levels.  The V-shape fin design accelerates and centralizes the airflow around the GPU to dissipate heat efficiently.  There is an Integrated Cooling Module in addition to the main heatsink.  This cooling module makes direct contact with the Memory, VRMs, MOSFETs, and Chokes with thermal pads to provide direct cooling to these components.  The heatpipes that run through the heatsink use Optimized Composite Heatpipes, which are fine-tuned for each individual cooling design with optimal heat flow, spreading out the heat to the entire cooling module.

The video card features Fuse Protection built into the circuit of the external PCI-E power connector to keep components safe.  There is also a Graphics Card Supporter shipped with the video card to keep the video card from bending.  There is also a full Metal Backplate with Thermal Pads to not only provide stability and safety but also helps keep the video card cooled from the backside.  The PCB itself is made on high-density 14-layer 2oz Copper and high TG PCB to match the rapid speed, high current, and increased power requirements to provide high stability.

This video card does support a Dual-BIOS.  There is a switch on board that selects between three different modes.  First, you have the Performance Mode, which is the default, which sets the factory overclock and higher fan profile.  Then you have a Silent Mode which sets AMD’s reference clock speeds, so the video card will perform slower.  Then you have a Software Switch Mode which lets you select the performance or silent mode in SAPPHIRE TriXX Software.  For our review, we ran it at default, which is Performance Mode.    

The SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT measures 12.2” inches in length, 4.6” inches in width, and is 2.4” inches in height.  It does require 2 x 8-pin PCI-E Power Connectors.  SAPPHIRE states total power consumption is 273W, and the minimum suggested Power Supply is 650W.  The video card features 1x HDMI and 3x DisplayPort.
