Far Cry fans who haven’t tried out the newest game yet can do so now at no cost.

Ubisoft has launched its free weekend event for Far Cry 6, allowing Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Stadia, and PC users to play the game for free until August 7. Note that this is the full version of Far Cry 6, which includes the Danny Trejo, Rambo, and Stranger Things crossover missions.

Progression will be maintained for players who decide to purchase Far Cry 6, which is currently available at a significant discount, per Ubisoft’s news post.

PC via Ubisoft Store: Until Aug. 16, players can get 60% off Standard, Gold, and Ultimate editions of the game, as well as 50% off the Season Pass and all three DLCs. Plus, those who buy Far Cry 6 from the Ubisoft Store and live in a country with the Wallet feature enabled will receive $5 in Ubisoft Wallet Rewards. If you don’t have the Wallet feature, you will automatically receive an extra 10% off at checkout.

PC via Epic Games Store: Until Aug. 8, players can get 60% off all editions of the game, as well as 50% off the Season Pass and all three DLCs.

Xbox: Until Aug. 15, players can get 60% off Standard and Gold editions of Far Cry 6, and 50% off the Season Pass.

PlayStation: Until Aug. 17, players can get 60% off the Ultimate edition, and PS+ members can save 55% on the Deluxe edition.

Additionally, Far Cry 6 is hosting a Photo Mode contest that will run until August 12 at 8:59 p.m. (PT), the specifics of which can be found below.

To enter, players must use Photo Mode and post an in-game photo, video, or GIF that they feel best captures a great “summer vibe.” The Far Cry 6 community development team will select five winners, and 10 more will be randomly selected from all valid entries. Prizes include AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics cards, Far Cry 6 collector figurines, Tobii eye trackers, Corsair headsets, and more. Only posts on Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok will be accepted, and all entries must include the hashtag #FarCry6FreeWeekendContest.

Ubisoft released Far Cry 6 on October 7, 2021. The game stars Giancarlo Esposito as “El Presidente” Antón Castillo, a dictator who rules over the fictional Caribbean island of Yara.

Far Cry 6 has been nominated for numerous awards since its release, including Best Action Game and Best Performance (Giancarlo Esposito as Antón Castillo) at The Game Awards 2021.

  1. I really want to try this but not going to redo my Ubi account again. I've been burned by them too many times now with every time they up and decide they want to change something and lock it in more. I had various games on Steam that I bought there before they created their own online thing which required me to create a separate account and then again later they changed up things that locked me out again and I said screw it, I shouldn't have to work that hard to play games I paid for.

Same here. I am tired of their constant changes. Also I really liked the first and second games in the Far Cry series, and after that they were blah. I had 4 and 5 and never finished them.
  3. Only way I'll ever play it is if I can do so without creating an account on, or signing in to Ubisoft Connect.

I have a Steam account and a GoG account, and that's all I want. If I can't buy or play a game without creating an account anywhere else, I'm just not going to.

I'm happy to pay for a Steam only version of the game, with no further launcher, but I am uncompromising in my mission to not use any other game launcher than Steam and GoG and not create or sign in to any account with any other service.

There has been a "community edition" of Far Cry 6 out for about 2 months now. I may just use that instead.

I gotcha beat, though. When I disconnected our USB SSDs, while doing our rigs housecleaning, reconnecting the drives required EA's Origin sick a$$ to do a FULL system scan that takes waaAAyy much longer than just redownloading the fking content. 😤
  5. Been trying this for a bit, does not seem vastly different then nr 3 I tried some years ago, and I can't realy put my finger on why, but far cry games look pretty bad imo

They tend to have pretty long render distances, which increases the GPU load, so they often have to back off on the polygon count and effects a bit to make it playable.

The same is usuaöly the case with most large open world games.
