Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)
CrystalDiskMark
We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.
The ADATA LEGEND 960 1TB SSD is rated at 7,400MB/s sequential read and 6,000MB/s sequential write performance. In the CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M Q8T1 test, the ADATA LEGEND 960 1TB SSD is performing above its rated performance. Our result shows a read speed of 7,453MB/s (exceeding the rated read speed) and what’s really impressive is the write performance at 6,656MB/s. The write speed is greatly exceeding the rated sequential write speed of 6,000MB/s for this 1TB SSD. That is just really exceptional. This drive is performing better than expected. It’s right on the heels of the Acer Predator GM7000 2TB SSD.
In the SEQ128K Q32T1 testing the ADATA LEGEND 960 1TB SSD proves to perform exceptionally, better than expected. It’s pulling in 7,480MB/s read and 6,684MB/s write performance, again well above the rated write performance. This actually puts it slightly above the Acer Predator GM7000 SSD on read performance, but just a tad under on write performance.
Random performance testing can often be the weak spot of an SSD, but in the RND4K Q32T16 testing the ADATA LEGEND 960 1TB SSD is performing very well compared to the competition. It is pulling in 4,132MB/s read and 3,509MB/s write performance. This puts it just under the Acer Predator GM7000 2TB SSD on read performance but actually exceeds it on write performance slightly. The ADATA LEGEND 960 is a very strong performer in this random performance testing.
Finally, in the RND4K Q1T1 testing, we see the ADATA LEGEND 960 1TB SSD land a good read performance compared to the competition at 81MB/s. It is beaten by the Acer Predator GM7000 and Patriot Viper VPR400, but the ADATA LEGEND 960 does beat out the two MSI Spatium drives on read performance. Perhaps the biggest weakness is seen in the write performance for RND4K Q1T1 where it is at 218MB/s, the slowest in this bunch. That is for sure its primary weakness.
