LG will be releasing a number of OLED TVs this year that are capable of reaching higher brightness levels, according to a press release that the company shared today regarding its 2023 LG OLED range, which includes the Z3, C3, and G3 series, the latter of which features a technology dubbed Brightness Booster Max that is said to increase brightness by up to 70%.

“A significant upgrade for this year’s LG OLED evo G3 series is Brightness Booster Max technology, which features a brand new light control architecture as well as light boosting algorithms to increase brightness by up to 70 percent,” LG wrote regarding the 55/65/75-inch G3 models. “Brightness is mapped and controlled on a pixel-by-pixel basis, resulting in sharper, more realistic images.”

“The 2023 OLED evo G3 models from LG also offer an aesthetic upgrade for even more style and elegance in the living room: Thanks to the One Wall design, there is no visible gap after wall mounting,” LG added.

All of these TVs will feature LG’s new α9 Gen6 4K AI processor, which will allow for even greater clarity and detail, according the company.

The latest processor in the Alpha series uses LG’s advanced AI-powered deep learning technology to ensure excellent picture and sound quality. AI Picture Pro offers improved upscaling for greater clarity, and improved Dynamic Tone Mapping helps bring out depth and detail in every image. AI Picture Pro also includes image processing technology that recognizes and refines objects or faces to have more lifelike HDR quality. In addition, AI Sound Pro ensures that viewers can immerse themselves in what is happening on screen by delivering virtual 9.1.2 surround sound through the TV’s built-in speaker system.

According to documents seen by FlatPanelsHD, LG’s G3 OLED TVs can hit brightness levels as high as 2,100 nits in Vivid mode, although fullscreen brightness appears to top out at 235 nits.

Its predecessor, the G2, features 930-nits peak brightness and 166-nits fullscreen brightness, according to the publication’s measurements.

The 2023 OLED TV line-up will be on display at CES from January 5-8, 2023 at the LG booth (#15501, Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center).
