EA and Motive have released a new launch trailer for Dead Space ahead of the remake’s release on January 27, 2023. According to the 1:44-minute trailer, engineer Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of the series, will appear in the game with a different face, altered to look even more like actor Gunner Wright, who has been voicing the character since 2011’s Dead Space 2. Fans do not seem to be happy with the changes, some of whom have gone so far as to claim that Motive is also “purposely making the women ugly.”

When Isaac Clarke and the USG Kellion were dispatched to repair the USG Ishimura mining vessel, they had no idea how quickly a routine mission could turn into a complete nightmare. What did the Ishimura crew discover in the darkness? What happened to them? And what does this mean for the future of mankind itself?

Dead Space is a remake of the classic sci-fi survival horror game from Visceral Games that was rebuilt from the ground up on EA’s Frostbite game engine. Those who pre-purchase the game now will receive a free copy of Dead Space 2 when the remake launches on January 27, 2023. It’s unclear whether Motive is also planning to remake the sequel, which took Clarke to the Sprawl—a space station built into one of Saturn’s moons, Titan.
