From an ASRock press release:

Supports New 4th Generation Xeon Processor

The W790 WS chipset is optimized for new Intel Xeon W-2400 series (LGA4677) processors and is compatible with W-3400 series processors with up to 56 cores also. The ASRock W790 WS provides a quad-channel DDR5 design with 2DPC over 8 DIMM slots, maximizing memory performance, potential memory pool capacity and supports ECC RDIMMs to ensure data reliability.

Extreme Storage and PCIE 5.0 Performance

The ASRock W790 WS motherboard features four PCI-Express 5.0 x16 slots and one 4.0 x16 slot, four PCI-Express 5.0 x4 ‘Blazing’ M.2 NVMe SSD Sockets (up to 128Gbps performance), two USB4 Thunderbolt 4 Type-C Ports (40Gbps plus PD 3.0 charging) and one U.2 mini SAS (SFF-8643) port, providing ample storage options that hit the very latest performance extremes. The motherboard also supports ASRock Blazing Quad M.2 SSD PCI-Express x16 add in card that supports an addition four PCI-Express 5.0 x4 NVMe SSDs (25110).

Rock-Solid Stability in All Conditions

ASRock ensures VRM stability for the Intel Xeon W-2400 and W-3400 series processors and DDR5 memory in all conditions and systems loads. Its leading VRM design introduces a 20+2 Power Phase with 90A SPS, Nichicon 12K Black Caps and server-grade power chokes built upon an ultra-low loss 14-layer PCB that prevents PCB bending and ensures signal integrity even under sustained extreme performance conditions.

Atop the VRMs sits a large aluminum fin array with three fans for active cooling, plus heatpipe and aluminum alloy heatsink over the rear IO that acts to further spread the heat. Users can also manually adjust the fan-speed curve in the BIOS to suit individual needs.

Ultimate Workstation Connectivity

Network connectivity includes two 10 GbE LAN (Marvell AQC113CS) ensuring file-transfers are superfast to networked or Cloud storage. One Intel I225LM (2.5 GbE LAN) with vPro provides Intel Active Management Technology and Intel Endpoint Management Assistant (Intel EMA), allowing trusted remote management for enterprise environments. In addition, Wi-Fi 6E with 2×2 antenna for connection reliability provides gigabit-class wireless networking, giving the convenience of high-speed, wire-free connectivity already built in.
