Gameplay Performance at 1440p with Ray Tracing

In this segment, we took four of the games in the suite that showed significant struggle for any of our graphics cards in the Ray Traced settings at 4K and dialed down the resolution. This is meant to show what can be accomplished in gameplay if you wish to sacrifice just a little of the resolution quality, but still, gain all the maximum effects of Ray Tracing. The in-game settings otherwise were identical.

Dying Light 2

At this resolution, we now get cooking. Both cards are nicely playable. The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GAMING OC is 32% and 30% ahead of the SAPPHIRE RX 7900 XT. Overclocking finally shows some advantage, 6%.

Cyberpunk 2077

This game is still choppy at 50FPS. That said, with upscaling things get much better. The GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Ti leads the way in both instances, by over 40%.

Watch Dogs Legion

We reach a playable FPS with the GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Ti in Watch Dogs without help. Our review card is 14% faster. DLSS adds a nice boost here, a 30% increase to the 60FPS without.

Metro Exodus Enhanced

Metro is really nice at this framerate. Both cards show playable FPS without help. The GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Ti still has a 12% advantage. DLSS adds another 25% to the FPS.

SUMMARY

This review covered the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GAMING OC 12G video card. Overall performance is lacking at 4K. The card seems much more suited for 1440p resolution, where it shines. Although it isn't a great overclocker, the card has exceptional cooling and is very quiet until the fans spin up beyond 75%. Even then the sound is not bothersome. The price/value depends on the buyer's goal. This is a questionable value for 4K but performs very well at 1440p.
