Gameplay Performance – 1080p
We are going to focus on the 1080p gameplay performance with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti video card on this page. Ray Tracing and 1440p will be covered on the following pages respectively. We will include DLSS and FSR performance on the same graph in the games that are supported. We will use DLSS on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR on AMD GPUs. For video card comparisons we are using a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti FE and Radeon RX 6650 XT video cards.
Returnal
Returnal was launched on the PC in February of 2023 and is based on Unreal Engine 4. The game supports real-time ray tracing effects, particle systems, and volumetric rendering. We utilize the graphics preset to set EPIC graphics settings with unlocked framerate, and everything is enabled except ray tracing, we have screen-space reflections on. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Returnal at 1080p and “EPIC” settings the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is playable providing 99FPS average and provides a playable gameplay experience. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is only 8% faster than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which seems small overall. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti offers 92FPS, and also a playable experience at the same settings. Compared to the Radeon RX 6650 XT the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti offers a 25% performance improvement. DLSS adds 18% more performance and brings performance up to 117FPS, which is 7% faster than the RTX 3060 Ti with DLSS.
Forspoken
Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. The game supports all upscaling methods and Ray Tracing. We are going to customize the settings and enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Forspoken the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti offers a playable gameplay experience with maximum game settings at 1080p with an 85FPS average. Compared to the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti the RTX 4060 Ti is 9% faster. Compared to the Radeon RX 6650 XT the RTX 4060 Ti is 52% faster, which is a big upgrade over AMD’s last-generation GPU in this game. Turning on DLSS adds 22% more performance and brings it up to over 100FPS at 1080p with the highest settings. Note that all of these tests are done with Texture Memory in the game set to the highest “Ultra High” setting.
The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol was released in December of 2022 on the PC and is based on Unreal Engine 4. We run the game in DX12 mode with unlimited framerate, and all graphics settings enabled and at the highest graphics settings. This game supports ray tracing, and FSR upscaling only, we use FSR2 for testing. We use the built-in benchmark.
In The Callisto Protocol, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti allows a playable experience at 1080p with the highest game settings at 92FPS average. Compared to the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti the new RTX 4060 Ti is only 7% faster, which is also playable at 86FPS. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is 39% faster than the Radeon RX 6650 XT. Using FSR the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti gains 16% more performance and provides 107FPS average.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was released on October 27, 2022, on the PC and uses the IW 9.0 gaming engine. The game supports all upscaling methods and we use the highest quality option of each. We customize every graphics setting to the maximum value for the best image quality and enable everything. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Call of Duty Modern Warfare II the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti runs at 116FPS average at 1080p and maximum gameplay settings, providing a playable gameplay experience at high frame rates. At this performance, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is 21% faster than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and 30% faster than the Radeon RX 6650 XT. Adding DLSS also improves performance by 32% and brings performance over 150FPS, which is again much faster than the RTX 3060 Ti with DLSS.
Chernobylite Enhanced Edition
Chernobylite, based on Unreal Engine 4, was released on the PC in 2021, but the Enhanced Edition update for the game was released in April 2022. The Enhanced Edition provides a visual overhaul of the game with better textures, plus introduces tessellation and ray tracing features. It features raytraced reflections, raytraced translucency, raytraced caustics, and raytraced dynamic diffuse global illumination. It supports upscaling, and we use the highest quality. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Chernobylite Enhanced Edition the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti allows a playable experience at 1080p and the highest game settings at a smooth 149FPS average. Compared to the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti the RTX 4060 Ti is 18% faster. Compared to the Radeon RX 6650 XT the RTX 4060 Ti is a large 68% faster, which is pretty big over AMD’s last-generation GPU. Adding DLSS improves performance by 22% and brings it up to 180FPS.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC and uses Techland’s C-Engine. The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, and FSR2. We use the built-in preset to set “HIGH QUALITY” which sets the highest game graphics, without Ray Tracing. We manually enable DX12 and ASYNC Compute. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Dying Light 2 at 1080p, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti offers a playable gameplay experience at 128FPS with the highest in-game settings, minus Ray Tracing. At 128FPS the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is only 4% faster than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 Ti at the same settings. Compared to the Radeon RX 6650 XT the RTX 4060 Ti is 30% faster. Enabling DLSS allows a performance boost of 28% taking it to 165FPS, which is equal to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with DLSS. The two video cards offer a similar gameplay experience at 1080p.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.62 and utilize the built-in benchmark. We test using the Graphics Preset option to set graphics settings to “Ultra”. We utilize the highest quality upscaling.
In Cyberpunk 2077 the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti allows a playable gameplay experience at over 100FPS at 1080p on “Ultra” settings, which is impressive for this game. The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is 9% faster than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti at 1080p “Ultra”, which is also playable at 94FPS. Compared to the Radeon RX 6650 XT the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is 35% faster. DLSS improves performance by 20% and brings performance up to 122FPS at 1080p. This is 8% faster than the RTX 3060 Ti with DLSS.
