A Diablo IV player has beaten the highest-level Uber-type boss in the game, Uber Lilith (aka The Echo of Lilith), and is the first player recorded doing so. Twitch streamer Ben managed the feat with their barbarian named Spinnywinny using the character’s whirlwind skill. The special attack skill appears to be enhanced by a particular type of buff which increases its damage while leaving the skill constantly charged up.

Per Wowhead:

“Based on a weird mechanic that was repeatedly reported during Beta, Whirlwind apparently snapshots a damage-increasing buff from Wrath of the Berserker’s second upgrade, Supreme Wrath of the Berserker. By endlessly channeling Whirlwind right after activating Wrath of the Berserker, the buff never seems to fall off and increases damage endlessly based on Fury spent instead. We could be wrong about what’s happening here, and there could be another bug or issue of some kind, but that’s sure what it looks like.”

The Diablo IV player also reported via their social media page that “Demon Mommy has been slain,” and when asked how, “120 hours played helps“.

It’s theorized there could be a bug, or glitch, or something else at work during the epic battle but at the moment this seems to be a plausible explanation of how Lilith’s alternate version met her end. It’s also said that players need Level 100 gear in order to accomplish the feat. Diablo IV game director Joe Piepiora shared in an interview with GamesRadar (via PC Gamer) details about the, at the time unnamed final boss battle, details regarding the Level 100 fight.

Per GamesRadar:

“At level 100, we do have a pinnacle boss encounter we want players to engage with that’s been balanced so that it’s extraordinarily, extraordinarily challenging,” he said. “Players that reach level 100 are going to have an extremely difficult time on this boss encounter. And the expectation is that you take your class, you understand your build, you’ve maximized everything that you possibly can about it, and you really have learned encountered very well. And that’s going to be the way that you can maybe take it down.”

Diablo IV has enjoyed an overall successful launch, although PlayStation players had a rough time with it on day one, following multiple test runs by Blizzard Entertainment. The publisher has recently said that the game is its fastest-selling title ever, although total sales numbers have yet to be revealed for the live-service game.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
