Gameplay Performance at 1080p

The SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7600 GAMING OC is being tested at 1080p resolution using our standard gaming suite, plus a couple of new editions to freshen things up. We will enable DLSS and FSR depending on the game and the video card. All the graphics settings in this suite were set as high as the game allows.

Our choice of RX 6600 and RTX 3060 is based on the price point at release. Both our comparison cards were listed at $329 on release. It should be noted that we did not have an 8GB model of the RTX 3060 at the time of our testing.

Chernobylite Enhanced Edition

Chernobylite, based on Unreal Engine 4, was released on the PC in 2021, but the Enhanced Edition update for the game was released in April 2022. The Enhanced Edition provides a visual overhaul of the game with better textures, plus introduces tessellation and ray tracing features. It features raytraced reflections, raytraced translucency, raytraced caustics, and raytraced dynamic diffuse global illumination. It supports upscaling, and we use the highest quality. We use the built-in benchmark.

All the video cards in this review do quite well in this game. The SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7600 OC comes out with a 3% lead over the RTX 3060 despite its larger VRAM. Also, our review card is 28% quicker than the last generation card. No contest with FSR enabled. Our overclock gives us a 2% performance gain in the game.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was released on October 27, 2022, on the PC and uses the IW 9.0 gaming engine. The game supports all upscaling methods, including NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Image Scaling, AMD FSR 2.1, AMD Fidelity FX CAS, and Intel XeSS. We use the highest quality option of each. We customize every graphics setting to the maximum value for the best image quality and enable everything. We use the built-in benchmark.

Once again, the SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 OC shows a nice result. The PULSE RX 7600 is over 25% faster than the competition here. Upscaling just sweetens the outcome. Overclocking adds 13% here.

F1 2022

F1 2022 was released on June 28th, 2022 on the PC and uses Codemasters Ego engine.  The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, AMD FidelityFX, and FSR.  We ran the game with the highest quality settings of “Ultra High” and TAA+FidelityFX.  DLSS and FSR were enabled as needed at the Quality setting for both.  The built-in benchmark was used at the Imola track, in dry conditions with a far-chasing cam.

SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7600 GAMING OC: F1 2022 performance

F1 allows very fast framerates in plain rasterized format. Here we see the SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 OC again take a considerable margin, 20% over the RX 6600 and 27% over the RTX 3060. When upscaling is enabled you can see things close up quite a bit, still 17.5% better than the RTX 3060. Our overclock didn’t add much here.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC.  It uses Techland’s C-Engine and supports Ray Tracing for various environmental effects including Ray Traced Soft Shadows, Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion, Ray Traced Global Illumination, and Ray Traced Reflections.  It also supports both DLSS and FSR 2.0 upscaling technologies.  We are using the game’s built-in benchmark. We use the game patched to 1.10.3.

SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7600 GAMING OC: dying Light 2 performance

Dying Light 2 is a very demanding game. All the cards handled it quite well. It is a game that is updated very frequently, so prior results in other reviews are difficult to compare. Nonetheless, the SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 comes out ahead. We see 13% over the RTX 3060 and 26% faster than the RX 6600. The assist from FSR is very evident in the non-overclocked SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 OC at 22%. In our overclocked version we see essentially a draw between all the cards.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 was released in October of 2021 and uses the Dunia Engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and turned on. We utilize the “Ultra” graphics preset which sets all options to the highest game settings. We also test the game’s support of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 to improve performance on all the GPUs.

Far Cry 6 is a beautiful game with a fairly easy effect on graphics cards. The outcome is very similar to all those above, over 39% faster than the competition. Not bad right there. With FSR enabled the lead shrinks to 30%. (although the game is fast enough without upscaling) Overclocking gains about 3%.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.62 for our testing. We test using the built-in benchmark. Preset options for Ultra quality are used. Ray Tracing testing uses the “Ultra” presets. This game also supports DLSS and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution FSR 2.1.  We test DLSS Quality on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR 2.1 Ultra Quality on AMD GPUs. Testing on our AMD video card shows no frame rate advantage FSR 1.0 versus FSR 2.1.

SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7600 GAMING OC: Cyberpunk 2077 performance

The SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 OC delivers in this game in rasterized format. The results are pleasingly fast in this very demanding game, such that upscaling is not really required to get a good FPS. Our card is 25% quicker than the RTX 3060 and 42% over the RX 6600. Bravo. Overclocking also gains us 9% here.

Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs Legion was released on the PC in October of 2020 and uses the Disrupt game engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and enabled for testing. We use the built-in graphics preset of “Ultra” for testing. Only DLSS is available in this game as an upscaling option.

Well then, what can you say here? The virtual tie is only bettered by DLSS which the AMD cards don’t have. Still, all playable results.

Dead Space 2023

This is a remake of the original game first released in 2008 by EA.  Motive has produced this remake using the Frostbite engine in its most recent form.  The game is visually stunning and makes excellent use of shadow, lighting, and detailed high-resolution graphics.  The graphics settings are all there, even one selection for ray-traced ambient occlusion, which unfortunately adds nothing to the game.  Dead Space 2023 does make use of FSR 2.0 and DLSS 2.  The is no benchmark in the game, so we used a manual run-through of a portion of the Dead on Arrival chapter with all the settings as high as they go. We did not have the game available for comparison card testing, unfortunately.

The SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7600 OC performs very well in this visually detailed game. The framerate hardly requires an upscaling but is improved by 40% when you enable it. Overall the game looked amazing and the gameplay was smooth as expected.
