ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition Video Card

Introduction

We’ve got ZOTAC’s top-end SKU GeForce RTX 4060-based video card on the test bench today, with our full review of the brand new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition video card launching today, June 29th with an MSRP of $329.99. ZOTAC is a well-known manufacturer of quality PC-related products, including graphics cards, since 2006. With video card brands such as its AMP Extreme, Trinity, AMP AIRO, Twin Edge, and even special SPIDER-MAN bundled video cards, ZOTAC has made a name for itself.

NVIDIA has just launched the new GeForce RTX 4060 mainstream video card at an MSRP of $299, geared for the 1080p gaming crowd. In our launch review, we gave you the complete lo-down on all the specifications, new features, and what to expect with the GeForce RTX 4060. We suggest reading that introduction to learn all about the new GeForce RTX 4060, Ada Lovelace architecture-based GPU. The new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition video card we are reviewing today is based on that new GPU. Here is a quick run-down of the base specifications of a GeForce RTX 4060.

The GeForce RTX 4060 utilizes 3 Graphics Processing Clusters, 12 Texture Processing Clusters, and 24 Streaming Multiprocessors. What this means is that the GeForce RTX 4060 has 3,072 CUDA Cores, 96 Texture Units, 48 ROPs, 96 (4th Gen) Tensor Cores, and 24 (3rd Gen) RT Cores. It will have a Base Clock of 1830MHz and a Boost Clock of 2460MHz. Memory consists of 8GB of GDDR6 at 17GHz on a 128-bit memory bus. This provides 272GB/s of actual memory bandwidth. It has 24MB of L2 cache. The TGP is 115W for this video card, but the average gaming Wattage is only 110W. It also has a low idle power of 7W and AV1 video playable power usage of 11W. This runs on a PCIe Gen 4 x8 PCIe lanes connection. The required PSU is 550W. New features include DLSS 3 Frame Generation and AV1 encoding support.

If you browse over to ZOTAC’s webpage and look under the new GeForce RTX 4060 lineup, you will see that ZOTAC is offering three distinct video cards. ZOTAC will be offering a GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB SOLO video card, which has just a single-fan, and a very small form factor. ZOTAC will also be offering a GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 OC Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse Bundle video card, which is black and has a very small oc boost. Finally, there is the top-of-the-line model we are reviewing today, which is the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition (ZT-D40600Q-10M) which as the name implies, has a white shroud and the highest overclock boost speed out of the bunch.

The first thing you will notice about the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition is its small compact design with just two fans and a 2-slot footprint. You also won’t forget its all-white shroud and backplate, with accents. The only thing missing really is a white PCB, but otherwise, this video card should fit well in a white build, or as a contrasting video card to your overall theme. With its small 8.7″ length it should also fit very well in small form factor builds. It also only weighs 1.21 lbs.

Specification-wise, the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition has a factory overclocked boost clock of 2490MHz versus the reference spec of 2460MHz. This is a rather small boost clock that won’t really be noticeable while gaming but does give it a slight advantage in benchmarks. Thankfully NVIDIA GPU boost is in play, so the clock speed will dynamically overclock while gaming well beyond that anyway, and you can overclock it as we will show you later on. There is 8GB of GDDR6 on board for VRAM and it runs at 17GHz which is the base specification.

The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition uses ZOTAC’s IceStorm 2.0 cooling system consisting of a dual 90mm axial fan configuration with 11 blades each that are sleeved bearings. It has a shroud, with a heatsink underneath utilizing a 1x 6mm composite heatpipe, and an air passthrough design. The heatpipe is made of composite layers of a thicker envelope and grooved wick with multi-channel working fluid to transfer heat more efficiently. With the open shroud design, there are multiple ventilation paths for air to escape. The video card supports fan stop to freeze the fans when at idle for silence. Fan speeds can also be controlled independently via ZOTAC GAMING FireStorm utility.

The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition has a full metal backplate to add rigidity. It also features a white LED logo lighting that is not adjustable. The ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition uses a single 8-pin PCIe power connector and recommends a 500W PSU. It has 3x DisplayPort 1.4a and 1x HDMI connector on board for display outputs. The card length is 8.7″ card width is 4.8″ and the card thickness is 1.7″.

There is a white LED logo atop the video card, though it is not adjustable and you cannot turn it off.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition video card at 1080p, tested ray tracing, and DLSS performance. The video card performs well at 1080p, providing a playable gameplay experience at high-ultra game settings, and ray tracing performance has improved a lot. It supports modern features like DLSS and DLSS 3 Frame Generation and brings AV1 encoding and features to this price segment. The video card overclocks decently, but is undermined by its build, and price premium in a segment that is very sensitive at this price range.
