Gameplay Performance
We are going to focus on 1080p gameplay performance with the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition video card. We will include DLSS and FSR performance on the same graph in the games that are supported. We will use DLSS on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR on AMD GPUs. Ray Tracing performance will be shown on a separate page. For video card comparisons we are using an EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB XC Black Gaming video card and an AMD Radeon RX 7600 video card and an Intel Arc A750 Limited Edition video card.
Returnal
Returnal was launched on the PC in February of 2023 and is based on Unreal Engine 4. The game supports real-time ray tracing effects, particle systems, and volumetric rendering. We utilize the graphics preset to set EPIC graphics settings with unlocked framerate, and everything is enabled except ray tracing, we have screen-space reflections on. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Returnal, we are able to play at 1080p with EPIC game settings on the new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Twin Edge OC White Edition video card at over 80FPS. This provides smooth gameplay, and the game is enjoyable. At this performance level, the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is 6% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 23% faster than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 12GB video card. Enabling DLSS can improve performance 18% in quality mode and bring performance up to 100FPS. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance 6% and brings it up to 90FPS.
Forspoken
Forspoken was released on January 24th, 2023, on the PC and uses the Luminous Engine. The game supports all upscaling methods and Ray Tracing. We are going to customize the settings and enable the highest graphics settings, including Ultra High Texture Memory. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Forspoken, the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is playable at the highest game settings at 1080p giving us well over 60FPS, and the game is smooth. At this performance level, the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 is 34% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 12% faster than the last generation GeForce RTX 3060 12GB video card. Enabling DLSS improves performance quite a bit, by 19% bringing it up to 80FPS in this game, and the game is very smooth. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 can improve performance by 6% up to over 70FPS at maximum game settings.
The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol was released in December of 2022 on the PC and is based on Unreal Engine 4. We run the game in DX12 mode with unlimited framerate, and all graphics settings enabled and at the highest graphics settings. This game supports ray tracing, and FSR upscaling only, we use FSR2 for testing. We use the built-in benchmark.
In The Callisto Protocol the new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is very playable at maximum game settings at 1080p providing 78FPS. The game is very smooth and enjoyable. At this performance level the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 is 25% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 29% faster than the previous generation GeForce RTX 3060 12GB. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance by 8% and gets us over 80FPS at 1080p with the highest game settings.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was released on October 27, 2022, on the PC and uses the IW 9.0 gaming engine. The game supports all upscaling methods, and we use the highest quality option of each. We customize every graphics setting to the maximum value for the best image quality and enable everything. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Call of Duty Modern Warfare II the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is very playable at 92FPS at 1080p with maximum game settings. While it is being beaten by the Radeon RX 7600 by 15%, performance is still very enjoyable and playable at 90FPS on the ZOTAC GAMING video card. We can further improve framerate by turning on DLSS, which boosts framerate well past 100FPS. The ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 is 24% faster than the last generation GeForce RTX 3060 12GB. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance by 7% and brings it nearly to 100FPS.
Chernobylite Enhanced Edition
Chernobylite, based on Unreal Engine 4, was released on the PC in 2021, but the Enhanced Edition update for the game was released in April 2022. The Enhanced Edition provides a visual overhaul of the game with better textures, plus introduces tessellation and ray tracing features. It features raytraced reflections, raytraced translucency, raytraced caustics, and raytraced dynamic diffuse global illumination. It supports upscaling, and we use the highest quality. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Chernobylite Enhanced Edition the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is very playable at 120FPS, and the game is super smooth with maximum game settings. It is 27% faster than the Radeon RX 7600 and 26% faster than the last generation RTX 3060 12GB. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance by 8% up to 131FPS.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC and uses Techland’s C-Engine. The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, and FSR2. We use the built-in preset to set “HIGH QUALITY” which sets the highest game graphics, without Ray Tracing. We manually enable DX12 and ASYNC Compute. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Dying Light 2 the new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is very playable at 1080p and the highest game settings at over 100FPS, which is great. The game is super smooth. Again, the Radeon RX 7600 is slightly faster, but the difference here is so small the experience is exactly the same between the two video cards. What isn’t the same is FSR and DLSS, using DLSS on the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 looks a lot better at 1080p than FSR does in this game. Compared to the previous generation RTX 3060 12GB, the new ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 is 15% fast. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance by 8% and brings it to 115FPS.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.62 and utilize the built-in benchmark. We test using the Graphics Preset option to set graphics settings to “Ultra”. We utilize the highest quality upscaling.
In Cyberpunk 2077, running at “Ultra” game settings, the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC is very playable at 80FPS. The game is very smooth and plays well. It is 10% faster than the RTX 3060 12GB. Though the Radeon RX 7600 is faster by 7%, the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 is still very playable, and the experience is very similar. Overclocking the ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4060 improves performance by 8%.
