Those on the lookout for a graphics card with two HDMI ports have another option as MSI quietly expands its Ventus Essential Series. MSI began launching the Essential series during the summer, along with its Limited series and Gaming Slim lineup of RTX 40 series graphics cards. Now while not much has been officially said about the differences between the Essential series and other Ventus counterparts, other than weight and appearance, one thing that stands apart is the changeup of display options. The Essential cards now feature 2x HDMI 2.1 and 2x DP 1.4 ports vs. the previous standard of 3x DP 1.4 and 1x HDMI ports.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC uses the TORX 4.0 cooling solution featuring a triple fan design. It has an updated visual design and custom PCB which includes a sheet-metal anti-bending plate for added support, and then also a backplate, plus an included support bracket.

MSI Ventus Essentials Current Lineup

As MSI quietly expands its Ventus Essentials lineup there is one offering notably absent, the GeForce RTX 4080, but perhaps it’s launch is right around the corner. In the meantime, though, there are a variety of RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, and 4090 models to choose from. All can be identified by the added “E” or “E1” in the name on the Ventus store page.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
