I’d buy that for a dollar!

Nacon has learned that making a new RoboCop game in the modern era may not be the worse idea, as Teyon’s latest title, RoboCop: Rogue City, has turned out to be the best-performing launch ever for the French publisher.

Sales figures for RoboCop: Rogue City are mysteriously absent from the press release that Nacon shared, but the company did note that the game drew as many as 435,000 players in the space of two weeks, racking up a total of 2.7 million active game sessions.

Here’s a trailer that Nacon, Teyon, and MGM made to celebrate RoboCop: Rogue City’s success, which launched earlier this month on November 2 for $49.99:

“RoboCop: Rogue City has exceeded our expectations, and achieved a genuine feat as far as NACON is concerned,” said Alain FALC, Nacon CEO. “We are really proud to have been able to work with the studio Teyon on this game created by and for RoboCop die-hards. We would also like to thank MGM for the trust they placed in us throughout this collaboration, as well as all the players who have contributed to making this release such a great success.”

And here’s a description of the game that the publisher shared, which notes the involvement of Peter Weller, who reprises his role as Alex Murphy/RoboCop in the game:

RoboCop: Rogue City immerses the player in Old Detroit, a while after the events of the second film. In this new first-person adventure, the player must restore law and order to a city plunged into chaos in the wake of the arrival of a new crime lord.

The gameplay alternates between explosive battles, investigations in the field and side quests, in which the player will decide citizens’ fates, thereby affecting the game progression.

Out of their desire to pay tribute to the franchise, the Teyon team have also left numerous references to the RoboCop world for players to discover, such as the iconic locations, weapons and characters, including the actor Peter Weller, who returns to duty as the face and voice of the cyborg cop in RoboCop: Rogue City.

RoboCop players who haven’t loaded the game up since launch may also want to get on that, as Teyon released a new patch recently that includes a number of fixes, including an updated NVIDIA DLSS plugin.

The patch notes for that can be found here, but be warned, as there’s a pretty big spoiler relating to RoboCop 2 in there.
