Hannes Wallin has announced that he will be celebrating New Year’s Day by stepping down from his position as CEO at Fractal Design, a hardware company that he founded 15 years ago but continues to offer PC cases, power supplies, and other premium hardware with “elegant aesthetics and solid build quality” for today’s enthusiasts.

Here’s the complete word from Wallin, who took to LinkedIn today to confirm that while he will no longer be CEO at Fractal, he’ll still be deeply involved with the company, as he’ll be assuming the role of Chairman of the Board:

Time for a change!

It has now been about 15 years since I founded Fractal. It’s been an amazing journey, with both successes and challenges along the way. I’m incredibly proud over what we have created together as a team – a company with a fantastic team spirit and a remarkable position in the industry, well respected and praised by media, consumers and competitors.

I have decided to leave my position as CEO, effective from 1st of January. Instead, I will assume the role as Chairman of the Board. In the role as Chairman I can fully focus on, together with the CEO and management team, forming our long term growth strategies and goals. As such, I’m leaving but not leaving.

This decision is entirely my own and something that I believe is in the best interest of the company. Fractal has very exciting years ahead with a massive growth potential. But with that comes other types of challenges and I believe that there are other persons that can manage this next phase for Fractal in an even better way than me.

The board has today decided to promote Jonas Holst to CEO, effective from 1st of January. Having worked with Jonas now for about 1,5 years in his current role as VP Sales, I’m confident that he is the right person for the role and for Fractal in the coming growth phase. Jonas has shown great leadership skills and spearheaded the development of our Sales department in a remarkable way.

As the biggest shareholder of Fractal, I remain fully committed to Fractals future and success. In the role as Chairman, I believe I can contribute in the best of ways and help our new CEO and the management team to shape our future. Again, I am in no way leaving Fractal, just taking on a different role.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone that I’ve worked with on Fractal over the years. I will always be grateful for the hard work and passion they have all shown to make Fractal to what it is today. It’s truly been a pleasure to lead this company till now and I’m excited for the even greater successes that lies ahead of us.

Some of Fractal’s latest hardware include the Terra, a PC case that the company designed to “reshape the small form factor gaming experience,” available in three colors, with a walnut front panel and other unique features:

Terra hides smart features such as a stepless slidable central wall, allowing users to adapt the space ratio between compartments by up to 30 mm. This gives builders the freedom to design their small form factor gaming PC around their component choices, including the option to incorporate a in a space-saving 10.4 L case.

Newegg has the Jade version of the case for $159.99 at the time of this writing.
