Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer for Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver, offering an early glimpse at how much slo-mo Zack Snyder fans might find in the second part of his new sci-fi blockbuster, the first half of which began streaming in time for Christmas last week on December 21.

REBEL MOON – PART TWO: THE SCARGIVER continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld,” reads a description that Netflix shared for the finale of Snyder’s two-part movie event, which, according to the teaser, will provide much-needed insight into some of the characters that were introduced in A Child of Fire, including Djimon Hounsou’s Titus, a disgraced general:

“On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight,” Netflix’s description continues. “As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.”

Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver won’t begin streaming on Netflix until April 19, 2024, but according to many of the reviews that have been posted for A Child of Fire, people should go into the movie with tempered expectations.

“While Snyder may do his best to invent a dark, gripping universe to engross viewers, Rebel Moon is a limp, soulless regurgitation of tropes stolen from much more formidable films,” reads one critical review.

“As a fan of Zack Snyder, Star Wars, and space fantasy, I wanted to love this film. But it’s simply not good enough in its current form. There’s some inspired moments, but the story and script are devoid of any creativity,” said another.

“Like the Death Star obliterating planets, Zack Snyder is out to topple countless innocent genres,” wrote one more.

Regardless, Netflix has confirmed that Snyder’s Rebel Moon films will be receiving even longer versions in the form of extended cuts, both of which will be R-rated.

“Let’s make just two movies back-to-back because it’s too epic to do in one film,” Snyder explained, thinking back to his original pitch with Netflix. “Oh, and let’s do an extended cut that we’re going to shoot different scenes for. Stuff that people just don’t do.”
